Still working on the pomotamous (or however it's spelled) socks for my sock pal. I still love the pattern, but am nervous about a) the size of the cuff and b) the yarn-overs. I'm through one and a half repeats on the cuff:
I'm also working on the mystery shawl 3, and the sweet mary jane cardigan. The cardigan just looks like a strip of purple knitting, and the shawl is still kinda too small to show the pattern enough to take pictures of. Plus, I'm lazy. I'm also working on fishnet stockings to wear while roller skating. Yes, roller skating. My new obsession is roller derby, and I'm looking for projects to combine my love of knitting and my love of roller derby.
In that vein, I'm also dyeing yarn tonight to make some legwarmers. I'm hoping to at least sorta match some yarn that Amber spun for me. It's my first dyeing experiment with cake dye, rather than koolaid, and I'm quite happy with the results so far. The dye has exhausted, and the yarn is sitting in the pot, cooling.
The yarn is two skeins of KnitPicks dye-your-own yarn, one in worsted, one in sock weight. The worsted is considerably darker. I put it in first, let it cook for an hour or so. When it seemed like it wasn't going to absorb any more yarn, I tried an experiment. I put in the other skein of yarn so that it would be a lighter shade. It seems to have worked out pretty well:
but I'll know for sure tomorrow.
